Bevolking
In 2017 telde Kefalonia ca. 35.500 inwoners. In de jaren negentig van de 20e eeuw had Kefalonia de snelst groeiende bevolking van Griekenland, met groeipercentages van 35 tot 40%.
De bevolkingsdichtheid bedraagt ca. 35 inwoners per km2. Ongeveer een derde van de bevolking woont in de hoofdstad Argostoli. De tweede stad van het eiland is Lixouri, en samen herbergen ze bijna twee derde van de totale bevolking.
